4-Stars in Lexington

4-Star recruits are not longer a strange sighting in Lexington, Kentucky. This weekend is no exception, bringing in top talent to hopefully impress with an upset over a Top Ten team. Coach Stoops said Monday that he doesn’t think this outcome of the game will affect recruiting too much, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to let the opportunity pass by to impress the best. Here are just a few of the big names in this weekend.

marcelys jones

Marcelys Jones (65) may be claimed by Urban Meyer, but Coach Stoops isn’t backing down without a fight. Since committing to the Buckeyes last Christmas, Jones has continued his recruitment with Alabama and UK, making his 2nd visit to Lexington since receiving an offer from UK back in March. Jones is the #8 OG in his class and is ranked as high as the #106 overall prospect in the nation (24/7 Sports). Building depth is important at offensive line, but stealing a player from Urban Meyer is a million times more significant.

elam vs desales

Matt Elam is coming back to Lexington to watch 2 of the schools in his recruitment face-off. Don’t expect to see the #10 prospect in the nation wearing a Louisville shirt. It probably won’t be the last time Elam is in town before making his official visit with Drew Barker on December 13th. It’ll be awhile before he decides, but until then Drew Barker’s unrelenting support will be Mark Stoops’ best recruiting tool.

Kentucky Barker Football

KSR writer Drew Barker will also (conveniently) be in the house Saturday. The unofficial spokesman for the Class of 2014 will be close to Elam’s side throughout the weekend. Barker is excited as anyone for the game tomorrow and will surely have great stories from the weekend on The Drew Barker Diary next week.

Too bad Drew couldn’t get Braxton Berrios in town this weekend. UK’s biggest competition for Berrios (Miami) had a great upset last week; watching the Cats pull off one in person would’ve been a great positive in his recruitment.

Come on #BBN there are still tickets left for the game this Saturday. Let’s FILL the stadium up with BLUE, be LOUD, and CHEER our C-A-T-S to a victory. Still tickets left for ONLY $35.00 it will definitely be worth the price of admission and there’s not a bad seat in CWS. Please help keep the red OUT!
