In news that should come as a shock to no one, 2020 five-star point guard Sharife Cooper has committed to the Auburn Tigers.
On Friday evening, the 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect out of Marietta, GA chose the Tigers over offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt, among other schools.

Kentucky was once seen as a major contender early in Cooper’s recruitment, though communication had died out completely over the course of the last several months. Once the dust settled a few weeks after Peach Jam in July, sources tell KSR that the two parties ultimately decided to part ways and that Kentucky would no longer be seen as a legitimate option for Cooper (and vice versa).
It is my understanding that Kentucky is no longer an option for Sharife Cooper. I expect an Auburn commitment sooner rather than later https://t.co/Y28JKhGEib

Cooper announced his commitment on the first evening of his official visit to Auburn, where he is joined by the likes of 2020 top-three prospect Jalen Green and five-star guard Cameron Thomas, among other unofficial visitors.
After the commitment, Cooper told Jason Jordan of USA Today that he would be recruiting several familiar names to join him at Auburn.
“I’m a big time recruiter now,” Cooper said. “I am going after Jalen Green, Jaemyn Brakefield, Greg Brown and Cliff Omoruyi. I want them all.”
While Green and Brakefield are no longer Kentucky targets, Brown and Omoruyi are both seen as potential frontcourt options for Kentucky in 2020.
UK head coach John Calipari earned a commitment from Cooper’s AAU teammate BJ Boston back on July 27, with Cam’Ron Fletcher, Lance Ware, and Terrence Clarke all joining Kentucky’s 2020 recruiting class not long after.
Kentucky currently holds the No. 1 spot in the team recruiting rankings on 247Sports, followed by Duke at No. 2, Virginia at No. 3, Baylor at No. 4, and Xavier at No. 5.
