Darius Fullwood from the D.C. area is one of the many names on Kentucky’s radar for the 2015 football recruiting class. Fullwood, the 17th-ranked weakside defensive end in the 247 rankings, already has a scholarship offer from the Wildcats and he spent some time on the phone with UK assistant Tommy Mainord late Wednesday evening. Fullwood called Mainord “one of his favorite coaches in the U.S!!!” in a tweet after their talk.
A high school teammate of UK 2014 commit Kobie Walker, Fullwood picked up an offer from Ohio State this past Saturday, with other notable scholarship offers from Florida State, Michigan State, Penn State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
He recently listed Kentucky as one of his top five schools and he admitted back in November to having more interest in rebuilding schools, telling The Cats Pause’s Josh Edwards, “I love the fact that they are in a rebuilding phase. At this point, that is kind of a plus to me because going to a school that hasn’t been doing well for a few years means that I can make a bigger impact on the school when I get there.”
Fullwood’s plan is to make a decision this summer.
