10 Great Quotes From The Greatest

It’s impossible to list all of the incredible quotes Muhammad Ali gave us over his lifetime. The list is literally endless, as almost everything to come out of his mouth was pure gold.

But as we mourn the loss of The Greatest, let’s look back at some of his best…

1. | “If you ever dream of beating me, you’d better wake up and apologize.”

2. | “A man who views the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.”

3. | “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.”

4. | “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

5. | “It’s not bragging if you can back it up.”

6. | “I’ve wrestled with alligators / I’ve tussled with a whale / I done handcuffed lightning / And throw thunder in jail.”

7. | “He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

8. | “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it–then I can achieve it.”

9. | “I am the greatest. I said that even before I knew I was. I figured that if I said it enough, I would convince the world that I really was the greatest.”

10. | “Don’t count the days; make the days count.”

    # 8 is a Norman Vincent Peale quote

I like that half of his famous quotes were in regards to how great he was.

Also, # 8 was lifted from Napoleon Hill (““Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.””)

    Best quote by far:
from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights? No I’m not going 10,000 miles from home to help murder and burn another poor nation simply to continue the domination of white slave masters of the darker people the world over. This is the day when such evils must come to an end. I have been warned that to take such a stand would cost me millions of dollars. But I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here. I will not disgrace my religion, my people or myself by becoming a tool to enslave those who are fighting for their own justice, freedom and equality. If I thought the war was going to bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my people they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow. I have nothing to lose by standing up for my beliefs. So I’ll go to jail, so what? We’ve been in jail for 400 years.
