12-Ender’s Universe has found the board twice in 3 starts this year. He’s back at his preferred distance and looks sharp. 11-Ndongo is already a seasoned vet, and despite hitting the money in 8 of 12 lifetime starts, is still searching for a mugshot. He’ll get his first crack at a one-turn sprint, which just might be what he’s needed. If you’re in it for value, look at 6-Amaryllis Beach. Likely won’t stay 10-1 with his pedigree and WinStar ownership (tip: WinStar does not purchase slow horses). First career start after sitting out the 2-y.o. campaign, but his recent bullets suggest he’s got the goods and ready to go. If he hangs around 8-1, might as well roll the dice.
Tough to ignore the recent form of 1-Loves to Fly, who will likely set the pace, which has been a recipe for success thus far in the meet. 8-Eternal Elegance is already a 3-time winner this year, including an allowance score going a mile. Should rate nicely and pick it up if the 1 folds. Value play, I’d throw around the 5-Sky Fuse.
4-My Baby Baby runs well on this track and the McPeek/Leparoux combo is always enticing. Disappointing season so far, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she puts it together. The well-built 1-Much Obliged belongs here and looks to be in top form with a top rider in Valezquez.
Two year old maidens, so why not take a shot? 9-Jones Zing is on his home track and, well, that’s worth $5 bucks at 15-1. Or, be gutless and play the 7-Corleone, a well-bred filly who gets blinkers today and should improve in this, her second career start.
6-Cloud Blue is a winner on the turf and dirt, so I’ll wager the filly handles the poly. 3-Suz Slew may look to the lead in this one and has the class to hang on.
4-Oh So Nice
Hard to look past the current form of 7-Moe Man, winner of his last two in convincing fashion. This will be by far his stiffest test yet. A duo of former KY Derby contenders loom heavy, with 8-Advice and 9-Aikenite dropping in class and distance.
4-West Ocean is going to be tough to beat if she’s on her game. Won going away on this track in the spring meet version of this race, and has been no worse than 2nd since. If anyone can beat her to the line, it may be the 3-Broken Dreams, a lightly raced but steadily improving filly with solid connections, looks primed for a big run. 7-Selva and 11-Silver Time make for solid value plays.
