We don’t talk nearly enough about Za’Darius Smith around here. In his first season in Green Bay, the former Cat has ten sacks, which is tied for sixth in the league, and 28 quarterback hits, the most of any player in the league.
According to PackersWire, if Za’Darius continues at this rate, he’ll finish the season with 37 quarterback hits, a mark only two players have reached or passed since the stat started to be tracked in 2006: J.J. Watt and Aaron Donald. Right now, only four NFL players have at least 10 sacks and 25 quarterback hits this season: Smith, T.J. Watt, Shaquill Barrett, and Cameron Jordan.
Za’Darius’ reaction when a reporter told him the news yesterday was priceless:

Za’Darius isn’t the only former Kentucky outside linebacker terrorizing quarterbacks in the NFL right now. THREE Cats are in the top 15 in sacks going into Week 14:
- T6. Za’Darius Smith, Green Bay: 10
- T13. Josh Allen, Jacksonville: 9
- T15. Bud Dupree, Pittsburgh: 8.5
Since we’re talking Za’Darius, one more clip to share. His sack celebrations have become must-see TV this season, and a few weeks ago, he used the spotlight to honor a member of the Packers’ equipment staff’s mother, who is sick and a huge fan of the team.

Great stuff right there. Love Za’Darius.
