Za’Darius (could) be recognized officially by the SEC front office on Monday. The first week’s SEC Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Robenson Therezie, starting safety at Auburn. He finished with seven tackles and two interceptions against Washington State.
Smith will likely be competing for the honor with a member of the Tennessee secondary, most notably Brian Randolph, who finished with 2 picks against Western Kentucky. Another possible candidate is Auburn defensive end LaDarius Owens. He led the Tigers with eight tackles, two for loss, and a sack against Arkansas State.
Za’Darius had 6 tackles, 3 sacks, and a QB hurry in the win over Miami. Make the right decision SEC.
