Za’Darius Smith Leads the Nation in Sacks

The Cats need a big performance from the nation’s leader in sacks, Za’Darius Smith.

Za’Darius Smith leads the nation in sacks with 4.0 through the first two games of the season for a total of 30 yards.

Za’Darius (could) be recognized officially by the SEC front office on Monday. The first week’s SEC Defensive Player of the Week honor went to Robenson Therezie, starting safety at Auburn. He finished with seven tackles and two interceptions against Washington State.

Smith will likely be competing for the honor with a member of the Tennessee secondary, most notably Brian Randolph, who finished with 2 picks against Western Kentucky. Another possible candidate is Auburn defensive end LaDarius Owens. He led the Tigers with eight tackles, two for loss, and a sack against Arkansas State.

Za’Darius had 6 tackles, 3 sacks, and a QB hurry in the win over Miami. Make the right decision SEC.

“Z” needs to tone down the antics a bit without losing his edge. Act like you’ve been there “Z”. Looking forward to seeing how he performs against the big boys in the murderous upcoming schedule…
