Anyone seen Jamarquis Johnson from Berrien High School out of Berrien County Georgia. He a 6’5” CB/Safety he’s a Kentucky fan. He’s gotten offers from Florida State, Tennessee and few others. He is literally like my second son and would love to go to Kentucky. Mark needs to look him up. He will be a junior next year.

There has been a heavy emphasis on defensive recruiting in this class so far, and that’s probably for the best.

What’s unusual about it is that we currently have more commitments from juco than from the state of Ohio. By this point in a typical year, we usually have a handful of promising commitments from Ohio. This year, our only commitment from Ohio is a legacy. Last week, we lost Dontay Hunter to Purdue and Connor Bazelak to Missouri of all places. I don’t see UK leading now with any prominent prospects in Ohio. So I’m wondering if Stoops may be shooting himself in the foot by moving Vince Marrow’s recruiting territory around. So far, that really hasn’t helped the class.

Over using yahtzee for 3 star recruits. What has the Ohio players really done for us. We struggled to win almoat every game that we did win, even EKU. The on field product is not living up to the hype and recruiting is dropping off. Look at the offers that most of these guys have, not exactly powerhouse programs. We are not competing with the bigdogs for players. You can’t build a program with jucos.

Snell, Bowden, and Conrad are all from Ohio. They’re all exciting players, and I’m expecting great things from them this year.
It’s up to the coaches to get the ball to C.J. and Lynn to take some of the pressure off Benny.

“What has [sic] the Ohio players really done for us.”

Have you been living under a rock?

Benny Snell, Lynn Bowden, AJ Rose, CJ Conrad, Dorian Baker, and Gunnar Hoak are from Ohio. That’s most of our offense. Twenty scholarship players from Ohio are on UK’s 2018 roster. Some starters from Ohio since Stoops got here:

      Benny Snell
      Cj Conrad
      Dorian Baker
      George Asafo-Adjei
      Kyle Meadows
      Mike Edwards
      Darius West
      Jordan Jones
      Marcus McWilson

A strong performance by our football team this fall might bring changes to Vince Marrow’s recruiting board before December. But, it’s not too early to ask what has happened. In sending Marrow to Jefferson County, has Stoops lost his edge in Ohio? I hope the answer is no, but we have already lost out on a number of Ohio kids who were interested in UK before Marrow was retasked.

So far, obvious needs like defensive line, running back, and receiver have not been addressed. It’s the kind of thing that could change in a month. But it’s beginning to look troubling at this point.

Irony: the poster who named after Stevie Johnson doesn’t like getting JUCO transfers.
