Kentucky has picked up its first football commitment for the class of 2021.

This evening, 2021 three-star linebacker Devon Williams committed to Kentucky over offers from Michigan, West Virginia, Michigan State, Nebraska, Arkansas, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, and Iowa State, among others.

“I want to start off by thanking God for blessing me with great talent & abilities,” Williams wrote on Twitter. “I also want to thank my Mom, Dad, Grandparents, Coaches, & many others. Thank you for all the sacrifices made to help me get to where I am today. Through the ups & downs you have all been there for me, guiding & pushing me forward. Thank you & I love you all.

“I want to thank all the coaches that have recruited me,” Williams continued. “I’m so blessed to be in this position & have the options I have. Lastly, I want to announce my commitment to the University of Kentucky. I know for the next 3-4 years this University will help maximize my potential as a student, young man & athlete. I will continue to work hard both in the classroom & on the field. I can’t wait to arrive at my new home. #BBN”

Kentucky first offered Williams back in February, the first SEC school to extend a scholarship to the three-star talent.

After the commitment, Vince Marrow – Williams’ lead recruiter – showed his excitement on social media.

“BOOM! Love it #BBN,” he wrote. “Who’s next?”

In the 247Sports Composite Rankings, the newest Wildcat is considered the No. 494 overall prospect in the junior class and the No. 33 outside linebacker overall. 247Sports has him listed at No. 575 overall and No. 43 among outside linebackers, while Rivals has him ranked No. 26 overall at his position in their rankings.

At 6-foot-2, 215 pounds, the outside linebacker out of Dublin, OH is best known for his speed and athleticism as a pass-rusher.

As an added bonus, Williams is also teammates with 2020 four-star prospect Michael Drennen II, who is expected to make a decision during the upcoming signing period.

Watch him work below:

Welcome home, Mr. Williams.

I really hope Drennen decides to make lexington his home. Kentucky football and its players will be household names very soon. Go Big Blue.

He seems very disciplined for a HS star. Patient with excellent closing speed once he diagnoses the play.

Its such a weird era of UK recruiting. Not only are we fighting with the big dogs and getting their fair share but I also get just as excited when we get a mid level player and I see Vince get pumped up because that dude obviously knows A LOT more about future talent than almost anyone in the nation. (BTW no disrespect to this kid saying “mid-level” player….just talking about the rankings….which…Josh Allen agrees…means NOTHING).
