Will Grier will start for the Gators on Saturday

Kentucky has prepared for both Will Grier and Treon Harris this week, but the Gators just announced that Grier, a redshirt freshman, will be the starting quarterback on Saturday. This is Grier’s second consecutive start, his first on the road. Last week, he was 10-17 for 151 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in Florida’s win over ECU, and in the season opener against New Mexico State, he was 16-18 for 166 yards, two touchdowns passing, and one rushing.

Yesterday, McElwain said he wasn’t ready to name a starter, so I’d still expect to see plenty of Treon Harris.

Maybe Grier’s snipe shooting skills put him on top:

This IS THE GAME OF THE SEASON. Florida is pedestrian on offense. I have faith that our defense is good enough to make enough stops to win. Our offense in this game is the XFACTOR. Florida has the defense of a top 5 team. They have at least 8 NFL players on that side of the ball. If we can put up 30+ points on that defense, we can score on almost anyone. The SEC east is a definite possibility IF we win this game.

A pocket passer over a dual-threat quarterback. I’ll take it.
