In case you haven’t heard, Kentucky got a huge Yahtzee yesterday with the commitment of JUCO OT Tate Leavitt out of Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. The Ohio native, measuring in at 6’6″ and around 300 lbs., will be an immediate impact player when we arrives on campus in January. Known as one of the best JUCO linemen in the nation, Leavitt will be in the running for the starting left tackle position next spring.
Here’s what people are saying about Kentucky’s latest get:
“[Leavitt] is country strong. He can bulldoze his way through defensive lineman with the best of them. His strength and power is readily apparent as he drives downfield on his blocks very well, sometimes even 20-30 yards from the line of scrimmage.” – Derek Young, Scout.com
“Getting a guy like Leavitt, who’s more physically mature and has college experience and has a lot of qualities you want in a Power 5 prospect, is big for them. What [Kentucky] is doing helps both the immediate future and the long-term future of your program.” – JC Shurburtt, 247Sports.com
“[Leavitt] is one of Kentucky’s biggest commitments to date, literally and figuratively. ” -Brian Eldridge, Scout.com
“Big-time get. Readymade OT, who was already bonding with recruits last night, helping teach technique on his visit. Leavitt has NFL body.” -Jeff Drummond, AllWildcats.com
“Kentucky might be putting together the best O-line recruiting class in the country. And Leavitt, top JUCO prospect, should help right away.” – Kyle Tucker, Courier-journal.com
“You’ve got to have a left tackle that can protect the quarterback and he can do that. He will be able to play from day one.” -Freddie Maggard, KSR

The Kentucky pipeline from Ohio continues full steam ahead. With Leavitt’s commitment, Rivals.com has UK sitting pretty in the #12 spot in the recruiting ranks and 247 Sports has the Cats coming in at #11, fourth in the SEC behind LSU, Bama, and Ole Miss.
Only 48 days until football season. Go Cats.
