Wesley Woodyard rescues father and son from overturned car

Former UK linebacker Wesley Woodyard woke up Friday morning with some impressive titles to his name. He’s a 12-year NFL veteran, an all-time Kentucky great, and a proud father of four. But by the time his head hit the pillow that evening, he’d added something new: a life saver.

Woodyard was driving along U.S. Route 27 when he witnessed a car flip over. Without thinking twice, the 34-year-old rushed to action, managing to pull both passengers out of the vehicle. He later tweeted about the experience.

“Today I was driving on HW US 27 when a car driving the opposite direction of me flipped over. My hero mode kicked in. Next thing I know I’m pulling the dad out and crawling through the car to pull his son out of the car seat. Man that was scary.”

How fortunate that Woodyard was in the right place at the right time. His actions could have very well saved both the father and son’s life.

It comes as no surprise that the former Wildcat would be willing to go the extra mile for others. Remember this clip of him sharing a cool moment with the 2-year-old Lions fan?

Woodyard’s last year playing in the NFL was 2019, though he remains a free agent. Regardless of whether or not he ever straps on shoulder pads again, you can’t deny his ability to impact and influence others.

It would have been so easy to call 911 and let them take care of it rather than risk yourself, you didn’t do that you reacted and that’s says a lot about who you are. A man of character, selfless and brave. Kudos to you for your actions. This is what a roll model looks like.

Thanks for the info KSR.. Seems like we get WAY too much negative stuff regarding pro athletes, great to hear about guys just doing the right thing, especially former UK players!
