Week Seven SEC Recap

BYU 28 Mississippi State 21 (2OT)

Taysum Hill scored 4 total touchdowns to lead the Cougars to an overtime victory over Mississippi State. Mississippi State continues to struggle to find ways to win games. Nick Fitzgerald passed for 214 yards with a touchdown, but also threw 2 picks. Fitzgerald was able to add 2 rushing touchdowns on 16 carries. Next up, BYU heads to Boise State, while Mississippi State heads to Lexington for a showdown with the Cats.

Vanderbilt 17 Georgia 16

The Vanderbilt defense held Georgia to only 75 rushing yards in what was the first SEC road win for Derek Mason. The Commodore offense was again held stagnant for most of the game, amassing only 171 total yards, but they still found a way to win. For Georgia, Jacob Eason had a big game by passing for 346 yards and a touchdown. Next up, Vanderbilt welcomes in crosstown foe, Tennessee State, while Georgia will try to get back on the winning track with a showdown against Florida on October 29th.

Alabama 49 Tennessee 10

Alabama yet again proved why they are the best team in the nation. Jalen Hurts passed for 143 yards and also rushed for 132 and 3 touchdowns. The Alabama running back core of Bo Scarbrough and Damien Harris combined for 203 yards on the ground. The Crimson Tide also scored a non-offensive touchdown for the 9th straight game. Next up, Alabama heads home for a top-10 showdown with Texas A&M, while Tennessee has a bye week before visiting South Carolina.

Florida 40 Missouri 14

Florida completely shut down the Missouri passing attack and had 523 total yards of their own. Two pick-sixes and an onside kick returned for a touchdown highlighted an impressive win for the Gators. Luke Del Rio returned from injury to pass for 236 yards, but did throw 3 interceptions. Lamical Perrine and Jordan Scarlett both rushed for over 100 yards as well for the Gators. Next up, Missouri welcomes in Middle Tennessee State and Florida will have a bye week before traveling to Athens.

Arkansas 34 Ole Miss 30

Rawleigh Williams rushed for 180 yards and Austin Allen passed for 3 touchdowns in Arkansas’ win over Ole Miss. For Ole Miss, Chad Kelly passed for 253 yards and rushed for 89 yards more for 3 combined touchdowns. Next up, Ole Miss will travel to Baton Rouge for a showdown against LSU, while Arkansas will head to Auburn.

LSU 45 Southern Miss 10

LSU exploded for a massive 3rd quarter to defeat Southern Miss 45-10. Danny Etling passed for 276 yards and 3 touchdowns for LSU. Despite being without Leonard Fournette, LSU still had a huge day from Derrius Guice who had touchdown runs of 61 and 20 for an overall 162 rushing yards. Next up, Southern Miss welcomes in a struggling Marshall team, while LSU welcomes in Ole Miss.
