We now know the Severity of Landon Young’s Injury

Almost a week after Landon Young suffered a season-ending injury, we now know exactly what required surgical repair.

First reported by Jen Smith of the Herald-Leader and confirmed by a UK spokesman, Young tore his left lateral meniscus in a non-contact injury.  The UK left tackle underwent successful surgery earlier this week and is expected to make a full recovery.  He’s not expected to return at all this year, but his road to recovery should be much quicker than a torn ACL.

In Young’s place, E.J. Price and Naasir Watkins will fill the role by committee.  As they compete for the starting position, their coaches and teammates had quite a few good things to say about their play.

Recovery is 3 months max for a meniscus. ACL is 9. He’s lucky. Potential to play this year honestly, though they probably won’t.

I’d rather redshirt him; praying he has a speedy and full recovery.

Get well, LY. Come back even stronger. Hopefully, we will beat down some teams in your honor!

I’d rather have two more full years of Landon Young. No need to rush back with the depth we seem to have.
