Therein lies the problem with a defensive minded coach. He is ALWAYS stuck with the offense and play-calling his coordinators run. Look at the absolute best NFL coaches.. Reid, Payton, McVey, Belicheck (he used to call all plays but less so now, but still), etc. Even when the head man turns it over to an OC, it is still his system that has been proven successful. Across college we see the same thing. Over and over again very few head coaches with no offensive input last long term (except Saban). I’d say Gran will be gone for sure after this year and we go back to square one next year. It is ok if the defense carries the team, but clearly the cats have holes there also.
