Today is an emotional one for the Kentucky Football program following the loss of John Schlarman, and to start the game, the Wildcats found a unique way to pay tribute to their former coach and player.

On Kentucky’s first play of the game, the Cats took an intentional delay of game penalty, leaving Schlarman’s former position of left guard open. Once Vandy declined the penalty — a very classy gesture — Landon Young, sporting Schlarman’s No. 65, came back in the game.

Powerful moment. From there, the Cats marched down the field and scored, a 15-yard pass from Terry Wilson to Justin Rigg.

SEC Network also honored Schlarman on SEC Nation this morning.
