This preseason when the University of Kentucky goes Behind the Facemask, they’re actually going behind two. Today we get to learn more about two of the offense’s brightest stars in 2020, quarterback Terry Wilson and offensive tackle Darian Kinnard.
The latter was an unsung hero as a true freshman, filling in the gaps as needed at guard and tackle. In his sophomore season he found a home at right tackle and became a Pro Football Focus favorite. Expected by many to be an NFL Draft pick next season, this fall Darian Kinnard wants to prove he’s the best blocker in America. He also showed a different side of himself during the conversation, a soft side for his mother.
“My mother, she means the world to me,” said Kinnard. “She’s an absolute fighter.”

Just like the man protecting his pocket, Terry Wilson is a Momma’s boy. “My mom is my rock. She means everything to me,” Wilson said. “Everything I’ve done to this point and more is because of her.”
The lessons she taught him, and the years of changing his nieces and nephews’ diapers, have prepared him to become a father in a few weeks.

Now that we’ve seen them talk, enjoy watching them operate on the field during Saturday’s first padded practice.
