One of the Commonwealth’s best will soon wear blue and white under center at the University of Kentucky. Monday night Beau Allen joined Hey Kentucky to talk about why he decided to commit to UK.
It certainly helps that Allen’s father, Bill, also played quarterback at Kentucky. A lifelong UK fan, Beau could not believe his eyes when the Cats won the Citrus Bowl.
“It was awesome,” Allen said. “I’ve been a fan my whole life and I can’t really explain the feeling of — I’ve never had that feeling before in my life as a Kentucky football fan. It was unbelievable.”
He’ll get a chance to replicate that feeling as the Cats’ signal-caller. Until then, he’s trying to recruit more talented players to join him in Lexington. What makes the sell easier are the coaches he’s representing. Even with his past connections to the school, what ultimately convinced him to come to UK were the connections he created with the coaching staff.
“I think it’s really just the type of people they are. In football, everyone saw the success we had on the field last year, but most people don’t see the kind of people they are off the field and the personalities they have. They’re great people.”
See Allen talk about the Big Dog, Vito Tisdale’s recruitment and more in this conversation with Chip Cosby.
