Kentucky’s defensive coordinator Zoomed into the meeting room after Thursday’s practice to share with the media what he’s been seeing at UK football practice. Still two weeks away from the season opener, the coaches have studied Auburn, but the Wildcats have not started to implement the gameplan with the players just yet.
“We’re still focused on us and finishing off (camp),” White said. “We’ll definitely start getting Auburn focused next week.”
To complete the preseason, White wants to see more consistency across the board. The defense still needs to develop more depth, especially at inside linebacker. Jamin Davis and DeAndre Square are an exceptional duo, but they can’t do it all alone. White has seen D’Eryk Jackson, Marquez Bembry and Jared Casey make improvements over the last month.
“They’ve all made progress. There’s still some work to be done and we’re going to need all of these next two weeks to get to where we need to be to play winning SEC football,” he said.
White also talked at length about Vito Tisdale, Yusuf Corker and the development of Jordan Wright, but I’ll get to more of that later. For now, enjoy the entire 15-minute conversation.
