With Kentucky playing on a Thursday; there is a lot of extra football to be watched this afternoon. The SEC games have extra surprising, so here’s what you may have missed today.

Ole Miss was upset by Memphis

Never doubt Freddie Maggard. The Tigers now have a 13-game winning streak and this was their first win over Ole Miss since 2004. Ole Miss has been on a downward slope since they beat Alabama last month. If the loss to Florida didn’t knock Ole Miss out of the playoff picture, this certainly will. Paxton Lynch threw for 384 yards and three touchdowns for the high-powered Memphis offense.

Louisville fell to 2-4 with a loss at FSU

It looked like Louisville was going to give the Noles a scare for the second straight year when they led 7-6 at half. Twenty-one third quarter points helped Florida State to pull away in the second half and continue their undefeated season. Dalvin Cook ran for 163 yards and Everett Golson threw for 372 in the win. Louisville will need to go 4-2 for the remainder of the season to reach bowl eligibility.

Finebaum rode a mechanical bull.

Yep, just watch.

LSU and Florida square off tonight

Florida and LSU will look to continue their undefeated seasons tonight in the Swamp. Playing without Will Grier, Florida will rely on Treon Harris to take on Leonard Fournette and the Tigers. Watch the game at 7 ET on ESPN. I’ll take LSU 31-20.

Alabama is kicking themselves in the rear

Former Kentucky recruit Damien Harris goofed on special teams and A&M blocked a punt in the second half. Bama leads 31-20 in the third quarter despite the blunders on special teams. How about this? Alabama was on a 87-6 run in the last 5 1/12 quarters before A&M scored their first touchdown.

A&M is wearing special Halloween helmets on the 31st

The logo will be “in” the helmet and will give a jack-o-lantern kind of glow. Pretty cool.

After living in Memphis for 20 years I know first hand how awful Tiger’s football has been for the most part other than the De’Angelo Williams years. So how is it they have seemingly bypassed UK and other schools by far in a few years and are at a point UK can not yet seem to achieve? Memphis has a worse football history than UK and supposedly lesser recruits so I’m not putting down UK football I am genuinely asking for constructive opinions on how they got to where they are at now, a place that most people say UK is a few recruiting classes away from.
