We’re 44 days away from kickoff of the 2016 UK Football season, but it’s never too early to look ahead to 2019, right?? The University of Toledo announced today that they will open the 2019 season at Kentucky on Saturday, August 31. This will be the first meeting between the two schools.
“We are very pleased to add Kentucky to our football schedule in 2019,” said UT vice-president and athletic director Mike O’Brien. “It will be an exciting opportunity for our team to face off against a team from the SEC. Also, with Lexington less than five hours away, our fans and students will be able to attend the game and cheer on their Rockets.”
This is the third 2019 non-conference opponent that we know of so far. UK will also travel to Eastern Michigan and host Louisville that season. UK recruiting coordinator and tight ends coach Vince Marrow is a Toledo graduate, and while this game may seem like another cupcake, it’s worth pointing out that Toledo upset #18 Arkansas 16-12 in Little Rock last season.
Hopefully they’re not that good three years from now.
