UK has a ridiculous number of events planned for the UK/Tennessee game on Halloween

Next weekend is going to be NUTS in Lexington, with the Breeders’ Cup, UK/Tennessee, and general Halloween debauchery going on. UK is doing their best to make sure those who come to the football game don’t miss out on any of the fun, announcing a smorgasbord of activities they’ve got planned for the day.

“SEC Nation” will be in town for the game and will broadcast live from the Purple Lot. UK is also getting in the Halloween spirit by opening Wildcat Park outside Gate 9, which will feature face painting, temporary tattoos, arts and crafts, visits by mascots Wildcat and Scratch, and trick-or-treating. All of that gets started at 3:30 p.m. Additional official trick-or-treat locations will be next to Nutter Field House at the Texas Roadhouse Countdown to Kickoff area, near the stage set up for the pregame concern next to the Glenn Infiniti of Lexington Green Lot and at guest services locations outside gates 1, 4, 9 and 12. Trick-or-treating at these locations will begin at 4:30 p.m.

FYI, here’s a safety note from UK:

Reminder to Fans — As per city ordinance, masks are not allowed. With Halloween approaching, fans are reminded that as per Lexington city ordinance, masks may not be worn in public.  Therefore, fans may not enter Commonwealth Stadium with masks or wear masks on game day.  Also, for safety and security purposes, costume props will not be permitted inside the stadium on game day.

The G Funk All-Stars will perform the pregame concert in the Green Lot adjacent to Gate 1 starting at 4:50 p.m. Large video boards will be set up next to the stage so fans can watch the Breeders’ Cup races throughout the afternoon. The G Funk All-Stars, a popular funk cover band in Lexington, will pause for the Cat Walk at 5:15 p.m. and then perform an encore, after which Dee Jay Silver will play.

Here’s the schedule:

  • 10 a.m.-noon — SEC Nation airs live from the Glenn Freedom Dodge Purple Lot
  • 12:05 p.m. — Post time for first Saturday Breeders’ Cup race (Juvenile Fillies)
  • 3:30 p.m. — Wildcat Park opens with Halloween festivities
  • 3:30 p.m. — The KSR Pregame Show starts
  • 4:15-4:50 p.m. — Dee Jay Silver plays following Twin Spires Sprint
  • 4:30 p.m. — Trick-or-treating at other official locations begins
  • 4:55-5:15 p.m. — G Funk All Stars concert following Breeders’ Cup Mile
  • 5:15 p.m. — Cat Walk
  • 5:30 p.m. — Cat Talk to the Cat Walk featuring Freddie Maggard and Christi Thomas
  • 5:35 p.m. — Breeders’ Cup Classic
  • 5:40 p.m. — G Funk All Stars encore following Breeders’ Cup Classic
  • 7:30 p.m. — Kickoff

The only way that day can get more fun is if we beat Tennessee. Let’s do that.

Really going all for a beat down most likely. Guess it may help to take some attention off the game. Towles won’t have a chance against UT’s defense. They are much better than any team we’ve played so far, so it could get ugly. Fingers crossed, but it’s probably going to a rough second half of the season, maybe we’ll finally stop with all the 7-8 win talk after this weekend.

2-4 and hookers in dorms. Run along and say your good night prayers to your lord and master Tom Jurich.

“They are much better than any team we’ve played so far”

      vs BGSU W59-30
      vs 19 OKLA L31-24
      vs WCU W55-10
      @ FLA L28-27
      vs ARK L24-20
      vs 19 UGA W38-31

three losses. one of them to florida, who we also played… even if you argue that tennessee is better than florida, you’d be an idiot to say they are “much better”

Shite, i accidently hit the like on Jack’s comment. Totally inadvertent. Jack is completely off- base. TN is good but not better than the Gators nor Arkansas. We could beat TN. I will be putting a few bucks on UK for that game.

Really? In the SEC total defenses are ranked, in order, Missouri, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi State, Vandy, Georgia, Mississippi, LSU, Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas A&M, then Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina. Tennessee is far from the best team we’ve played, especially on defense.

Awesome; lets all hope for some good weather. Kudos to UK for “getting it” as far as game-days have been concerned this season. Experience before games have been really good, and UK deserves a lot of credit for this.

Tyler – any way we can start spreading the word so that kids can trick-or-treat around the tailgates? I’m sure there are a lot of other dads out there that are catching grief over the date/time of the game. #TrickOrTailgate – let’s make it happen!!

MSU, GA, TN, will all be double digit losses, probably closer to 17-20 points, especially GA and MSU. Vandy will be close, and we’ve seen how we respond and call plays in close games. Based on that, pretty much equals a loss there as well. Loserville has a mobile qb that we haven’t been able to stop in 10 yrs, so a bowl game is very far from a guarantee. It’s a shame we have to plan concerts, activities, etc.. to get people to the football games. As soon as that round ball goes up in the air, we’ll be lucky to sell out half the stadium.

Funny how you conveniently ignored the four posts above telling you that you’re wrong.

Everybody just give Jack a break! After reading his post, I see nothing that leads me to believe he is a UofL trolling on KSR. He sounds to me like someone, like me, that isn’t going to get all jacked up (yep, pun intended) on a bunch of hype. The UF and AU losses taught me a lesson. I’ll celebrate AFTER the win, not before. If we pull off any one of these three Ws (MSU, UG and UT), they will be very good wins as they are all bigger, stronger and older teams. UT the most likely win amongst them, IMO. UT defense may be lower tier in the total defense stats, but where does our O Line stand? Not giving Towles much help, IMO.

    Fire away…

FYI, the “hype” I mentioned was very heavy pre-UF and pre-AU, both losses, albeit close ones. I’ll do my celebrating, or licking my wounds, around 11:00 PM on October 31st.

I didn’t say he was a Louisville fan, just that he was over-rating UT’s defense. They have the third worst defense in the league. He said, “Towles won’t have a chance against UT’s defense.” I disagreed, and backed it up with the defensive rankings from Rivals. He also said our next three games will be double digit losses. Again, I disagree.

I think before the Louisville games UK needs to put on a “Pimps and Hoes” themed party.
