UK giving away tickets to students who donate a snack item to food bank

Well, this is one way to fill up the stadium Saturday.

My source inside the Fayette County School System tells me UK is giving away two tickets to any Cassidy Elementary or Morton Middle School student who donates a “snack item” to the Cassidy/Morton Family Resource Youth Service Center food pantry as part of Commonwealth Stadium’s Food Drive Day.

That means, for a simple donation of a box of crackers, two more seats will be filled for the season opener. Recommended donation items include boxes of granola bars, peanut butter or cheese crackers, microwave ravioli, mac ‘n cheese, individual cereals or juice boxes.

So in short, one box of crackers is worth two UK football tickets. This is where we are right now in our journey.

Beat Southern Miss.

(And at least it is for a good cause. Good for the Cassidy/Morton FRYSC.)

Crazy! I remember when UofL gave away football tickets at Kroger in the early 80s. The programs have completely flip-flopped.

UK fans have had a multitude of patience and tolerance for decades, but that has seemingly run out.

You must not remember when Louisville was peddling tickets on Groupon a couple of years ago. Maybe even last year too. They typically do not sell out tickets either, which is funny because their fans act like they’re some powerhouse program. Makes sense that UK isn’t selling out bc they haven’t been very good in years.

True. I guess I meant in the fact they now have the better program whereas UK was respectable until the Curry Years.

Agree that they think they are ‘Bama. Had an Ohio State fan friend of mine who was talking to a UofL fan. UofL fan said, ‘big-time football programs like our schools ….”

As of last year, UL still gave tickets away to each and every game. A lot were given away at local elementary schools. It is a good way to make new fans though. As far as UL thinking they are a “Big time” program, they still are in the weakest conference of the 5 majors. And, they had to lie and buy to be there.

So how does that make you season ticket buyers feel? For a box of pop tarts do you get a parking pass too?

Some co-workers bought season tickets early before all the promos. They are pretty unhappy now
