UK Football to host Georgia Southern in 2029

A 62-year-old Mark Stoops, fresh off his fifth straight SEC Championship, will lead the defending Tesla Bowl champion Kentucky Wildcats onto the field against Georgia Southern in the 2029 season opener in Lexington. The scene outside Kroger Field will be rocking as fans tailgate around their smart cars and hover boards, finishing off those last tailgate seltzer bourbons before kickoff because the stadium still does not serve alcohol inside.

It’s a scene from the future that was announced today when Georgia Southern tweeted a scheduled game with Kentucky for September 1, 2029, eight years and four months from now. reports Georgia Southern will receive a $1.35 million guarantee for their participation.

We will have plenty of time to preview that game some time after its participants graduate middle school. In the meantime, update your 2029 UK Football pocket schedules accordingly.

Bring on the Eagles!

Good to see Mitch is thinking ahead for the expanded playoffs, like everyone else, by scheduling more quality non-conference opponents. Gee, thanks Mr. Sunbelt!

You ever play in an SEC football game? If not, as I’m suspecting, then you’d understand the scheduling. You probably also ridicule Nick Saban for his scheduling?

Hey, peaches and cream. Look at Saban’s non-conference schedule for the next 10 years. He has Texas, Wisconsin, Florida State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Arizona, Virginia Tech. Most are home-and-homes. We have Georgia Southern. It is the current trend to build strength of schedule with the playoffs about to expand. So get a clue you peach-scented douche.

Saban has also played plenty of the Mercers & Georgia States of the world too. Many of those years he played a Big 10 school or something in Atlanta or at Jerry World, but he somehow often managed to catch them on a down year and absolutely maul them. Granted, GA Southern is no natty contender, but some years they’re one of the better non-power 5 teams out there. Who knows in 2029 though.

I get wanting cupcakes on the schedule but damn man can we get just 1 quality out of conference game each year? It’s embarrassing.

Doesn’t even have to be a top tier program, Memphis and West Virginia would both be drivable and beatable and a hell of a lot more entertaining than ULM. I’d be a little more nervous to schedule cincy but that’d be a fun game too and would be big for recruiting.

I would think UofL qualifies as a quality ooc game, the last couple of bad years notwithstanding. Regardless, weak schedule is not something that has been issue for UK football historically.

I can hardly wait. Drew, it seems that a fairly large percentage of your posts pertain to alcohol. You must drink a lot!!

He and Matt are also huge gambling addicts IMO.

Why would we be scheduling OoC games nearly a decade down the road? Is that the norm now? It would seem 3-4 years out would be plenty.
