UK doesn’t receive any votes in the AP Top 25 poll

towles

This week’s college football polls are out, and unfortunately, Kentucky’s win against Missouri wasn’t enough to gain them any support among the voters in the media.

Although UK didn’t make the cut, two new SEC teams did enter the rankings (Mississippi State at #21 and Florida at #25), and Mizzou dropped out entirely – receiving zero votes as well.

On the contrary, the Cats were able to secure three votes in the coaches’ poll – which is three more than Louisville should get this season. A win against EKU and Auburn would put Kentucky in a VERY good position and would have them in the Top 25 for the first time since 2007. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Last year if I remember correctly going into the LSU game at 5-1 we were the first team out of the top 25. We were close last year.

  2. Not that I’m being negative about the win, but part of this probably is that they’re looking at Mizzou’s schedule. They have not beaten anyone. Which gives rise to the question: why were they ranked anyway then?

    Who cares! GO CATS!!!

They, like Auburn, were preseason ranks based on past successes. The fact that UM had won three times (albeit unconvincingly against UConn) kept them in the polls, but sliding.

    • True that.

Exactly this. Beating Mizzou was fun and a “nice” home win, but ultimately they had no business in the Top 25 at all.

“nice” try troll. Win over Missouri > Win over Samford. 3-1, 1-3

Booby, I’m not sure who you think is trolling, but both of these guys (Gettelfinger and Man Bun) are right. Maybe the latter doesn’t share your enthusiasm, but not everyone who doesn’t is a troll.

You people use the term “troll” for anyone who says true things that may not fit your narrative.

We use the word troll on Louisville fans who think everything they say is fact.

Like “We are gonna beat you by 40 at PJCS”
      “Louisville is a national contender”
“You haven’t beaten anyone thats good” (even though they haven’t lost to anyone thats good)
“If we had your schedule, we’d be 4-0”. etc……

If UK can win the next three games they will deserve a top 25 ranking. Until then lets just enjoy watching this team get better.

EKU, Aub, AND MSU? I don’t know about all that.

But yeah, agreed about enjoying the improvement.

Would love to see us ranked, but at this point, it’s meaningless. If we had beaten the gators we’d probablu be in. I don’t think we can beat Auburn; like Florida, even playing bad, they’ve just got too much athleticism, depth, speed, and size for us to handle.

The truth is that we truly haven’t done anything to deserve to be ranked. Win the next 2, however, we’ll be getting votes.

I am not a troll – I graduated from UK in 19-aught-67, but I am a realist. SC may not beat Vandy this year, and Louisiana Lafayette lost by 3 td’s to fricken AKRON last Sat. I personally don’t care about poll votes at this point of the season. We are 3-1 and bowl-bound, and I’m ok with that.

Are we really already talking smack and whining about lack of national recognition? I guarantee Stoops doesn’t care about “lack of votes”-he is probably happy about it to keep the players hungry.
