Two Wildcats Earn SEC Player of the Week Honors

UK Athletics
The SEC named Austin MacGinnis Special Teams Player of the Week and Mike Edwards as the league’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week, sharing the top spot with Vandy’s Zach Cunningham. Edwards was also named SEC Player of the week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
MacGinnis was an easy choice. For the second time this season, The Mac hit a game-winning field goal of 45 yards or more. That field goal helped MacGinnis move into second-place on UK’s all-time scoring list.
Edwards did a little bit of everything for the Kentucky defense. Edwards recorded a half-sack and six tackles, giving him 93 tackles on the season. He’s ranked second on the team and third in the SEC. He also picked off two of Lamar Jackson’s passes. The first came when the game was tied in the third quarter; the other was the last play of the game. When Edwards arrived at the celebration in Lexington, he was still holding onto the game-clinching ball.
