Three Kentucky Wildcats continue to rake in the preseason accolades. Today, CBS Sports named senior punter Max Duffy, senior center Drake Jackson, and junior offensive tackle Darian Kinnard to its 2020 preseason All-American teams.
Duffy was an unanimous first-team selection at specialist after leading the nation last season with 48.10 years per punt. He won the 2019 Ray Guy Award as the nation’s top punter and was named a first-team All-American by the AP, Sporting News, ESPN, FWAA, Walter Camp, AFCA Coaches’, The Athletic, USA Today, Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. He is UK’s career punt leader with a 46.3-yard average. Already this year, Duffy has been named preseason First-Team All-American by Athlon Sports, Phil Steele, Sporting News and Walter Camp and preseason First-Team All-SEC by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports. He’s really good.
Jackson and Kinnard, both integral members of Kentucky’s Big Blue Wall, were both named second-team offense after earning the same honors from Athlon Sports a few weeks ago. Jackson has a team-high 33 consecutive starts and was also named to the 2020 preseason first-team All-SEC teams by Athlon Sports and Phil Steele. Kinnard finished the 2019 season with 32 knockdowns and just one penalty in 706 snaps. He has also been named a preseason fourth-team All-American by Phil Steele and a first-team All-SEC selection by Phil Steele and Athlon Sports.
CBS Sports’ Preseason Coach of the Year honor went to Dabo Swinney of Clemson, but Mark Stoops was among the group of coaches that received votes, along with North Carolina’s Mack Brown, Florida’s Dan Mullen, TCU’s Gary Patterson, and Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly.
