The Wildcats are Underdogs in the Belk Bowl

Kentucky is an underdog. Can you believe it?

The last-minute switch between Tennessee, Miss. State and UK threw a curveball at Vegas bookmakers. The lines were set Sunday night for every single game except those three (a few books made exceptions). After taking some time to evaluate the matchups, Vegas has set the line.

Virginia Tech opens as three-point favorites over Kentucky. The total is 45, setting up for a low-scoring Belk Bowl.

If you have wagered on the Wildcats this season, you’ve got money to spend this holiday season. The Covering Cats are 8-4-1 ATS in 2019, covering in five of their last six games. The over has hit in three straight games after six straight unders. UK’s 8-4-1 ATS record is one of the best in the country. On the other side, the Hokies are 6-6 ATS in 2019, covering in five consecutive games before falling to Virginia in the season finale.

If you prefer to look at the matchup analytically before making a wager, the two are almost a push in SP+. Kentucky is ranked 37th with a 7.9 rating, while Tech is just three spots behind at No. 40 with a 7.3 rating. In ESPN’s FPI UK ranks 28th with an 8.5 rating, more than a field goal better than the 48th-ranked Hokies’ 4.8 rating.

No matter how you pick ’em, wager responsibly.

Ahh don’t you love it. I have always said that Va Tech is the most overrated team in the country year in and year out.

Pretty sure Kentucky isn’t 8-4-1 ATS this season when they are 7-5 overall.

That being said I thought they were 9-3 ATS this year (though it always depends on what lines you got). I have…
Covered: Tol, EMU, UF, Ark (believe it or not, it was UK -3), UGA, Mizzou, Vandy, UTM, Louisville

Didn’t cover: MSU, SC, and UT

The only possible ones to go either way are Florida (very small chance you got it at +8 or higher) and Ark (again, closed most places at -3 or -3.5).

Though I see now you say Cats are 7-4-1 ATS in 2019. So, if you throw in the Citrus Bowl Kentucky should be 10-3 ATS in 2019.

Did anyone of these idiots watch a single non Clemson game this year? It’s the ACC…ok teams doing ok against bad opponents doesn’t make any of those teams good. VT stunk against good teams and was just ok against non P5 teams just like the supposedly super offense of Louisville’s, how’d that work out for them.
