The OTT Podcast, Episode 8: Best Football Movies

College football starts tomorrow and to celebrate, I invited Funkhouser’s CM Tomlin and Fake Barney on my podcast to talk about our favorite football movies. We came up with a list of 16 and put them in a bracket to determine the best football movie in existence:

Highlights include:
— Why Draft Day is so terrible it’s awesome
— Who is more annoying: the kid from The Blind Side or the kid from Jerry Maguire?
— “I DON’T WANT YOUR LIFE!”
— Why it’s okay for grown men to cry during Brian’s Song
— The most ridiculous matchup in movie bracket history
To listen, just subscribe to “Kentucky Sports Radio” on iTunes or stream on Podbay.

Good list, but I would have included Radio and Everybody’s All American
If Remember the Titans doesn’t win then this is rigged. Also, why have Remember the Titans and Friday Night Lights (arguably the best two films on the list) in a first round match-up?
Remember the Titans is almost too cheesy for its own good.
Radio needs to be on there and Remember the Titans and Friday night lights need to be on opposite sides of the bracket. They should both be the top 2 seeds but they’re a first round matchup.
Brian’s Song and Varsity Blues should be a final…Not a first round matchup.
WHY IN THE WOD WOULD YOU HAVE REMEMER THE TITANS AND FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS I THE FIRST ROUND? WHO DID THIS, THENCAA BASKETBALL SELECTION COMMITTEE?
The Program was ahead of its time…. Varsity Blues (Still dream of that teacher), Rudy, Necessary Roughness (mmm Kathy Ireland)
Varsity Blue, Brian’s Song, Little Giants, Friday Night Lights…. put them in any order, but that is 1-4. Remember the Titans is a terribly inaccurate portrayal of what actually happened. Leatherheads is better than the Blind Side/Draft Day/Necessary roughness.
This would be a good contest: The Replacements. Is it just the worst movie of all time or is it the worst insult of any kind to our intelligence of all time?
