The Governor’s Cup is staying in Lexington for another year

With today’s news that the SEC will play a conference-only schedule this football season, the Governor’s Cup trophy secured its place in UK’s trophy case for another calendar year. By the time we see Kentucky and Louisville play football again, it will have been 1,463 days since Louisville beat Kentucky, and it will probably be even longer because Kentucky is better. What a shame.

But is this the way we want to keep the streak in 2020? The answer is no, of course not. We’d much rather see the Cats dominate their rival for Thanksgiving this year, like last year, and the year before. The ACC left the door open for that to happen, to continue the traditional ACC-SEC football rivalries, but the SEC declined the option, choosing to keep all of its games in-conference instead. Mitch Barnhart is upset about it.

We are too.

Knowing it will be another 485 days before the next Governor’s Cup football game, we should look back on some recent memories from the rivalry:

The Music City Bowl would be smart to arrange a UK – UofL matchup. If UofL qualifies for a bowl game.

Don’t think UK will be eligible it depends on who thier other two opponents are if they are LSU and Bama which is most likely then I say we finish no worse than 3-7 but it’s only one of LSU or Bama or neither then UK has a shot to go 5-5

Never in my life have I seen more businesses commit economic suicide – and beg everyone watching to applaud.

    This is dumb.

Little brother – aka uavel – was/were good when they cheated.

And, they were bad…when they cheated.

    They cheated – consistently.

Which makes little brother – uavel – consistent cheaters and sorrowfully bad.
