University of Kentucky Basketball, Football, and Recruiting news brought to you in the most ridiculous manner possible.

The Freshmen 5: Why Kentucky?

These young guys aren't shy around a camera.

During Media Days I spoke to over a dozen members of the Class of 2014.  After asking them the same five questions, I’ve compiled the best answers from the group.  Part I: Celebrity Crushes ; Part II: Football Inspiration

The question is simple, “Why Kentucky?”

Lloyd Tubman

“Why not?  It sounds like a cliche but being an in-state guy, I wanted to stay home.  The connections with Coach Brumbaugh, Coach Eliot, and Coach Stoops was a great thing, so Why Not?  Those guys actually played in the trenches – defensive guys – they’re going to get me to my full potential.  That’s the best part.”

Ty DuBose

“I love the coaches, there are great facilities, and it felt like home to me.”

Adrian Middleton

“Just the atmosphere around the football team.  I wanted to change things around, change the game.”

Kendall Randolph

“Coach Stoops and Coach Ansley.  The only reason I picked Kentucky was (because of) Coach Stoops.  My comfort level  and the relationships we built through the recruiting process;  I committed to them and they committed to me.  They’ve got my best interests at heart and I know at the end of the day, they’re going to take care of me.”

Kobie Walker

“SEC.  Coach Stoops.  Coach Eliot.  They got me down here for a couple visits and I fell in love with it.”

Ryan Flannigan

“Great place. Great opportunity.  The SEC.  Why not the best conference?  That’s why I chose.  Plain and simple.”

Blake Bone

“‘Why Not?’  What Stoops’ famous wards say.  I look at it, coming in as a freshman I think I can make plays here the most in the offense.  I can catch the ball really good in traffic.  I’m just trying to make a name for myself.  I think I can do it in the future and Kentucky is the best place to do that.”

Nico Firios

“I really love the program here.  I wanted a chance to be something bigger than what they’ve done here in the past and we have the opportunity to turn it around here.  At some other programs I had offers from, they already have an established tradition.  I really wanted to establish this tradition here.”
