The Bear likes Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky

Before ESPN’s analysts reveal their picks on College GameDay, their producer picked Vanderbilt to cover against Kentucky.

Last week on Stanford Steve and The Bear, Scott Van Pelt’s producer picked Kentucky to take down Tennessee. Disgusted by the close loss, Stanford Steve believes he’ll get his money back with the Cats this week in Nashville.

“They should not have lost last week. That was brutal,” said Stanford Steve. “That was as bad as you can play. You’re up 13-3 and then you go down and lose the ball on downs late to win and over. Ugh.”

His counterpart, Chris “The Bear” Fallica, does not like this spot for Kentucky (-10).

“They shouldn’t have (lost), but their offense is terrible right now,” said Fallica. “Everyone is so down on Vandy. You lose at home to UNLV. Then the following week they beat Missouri. It could be a similar type thing this week. We’ll see.”

You can hear their entire discussion and more picks by listening to their podcast, Stanford Steve and The Bear. The Kentucky talk begins right around the 42:50-mark.

Last year Kentucky was completely one dimensional against Vandy and scored 14 points at Kentucky. Last year Kentucky had one of the best running backs in college football. Stoops will give Vandy a chance to win this game. Not at the point to where I think UK should move off of Stoops, he’s too good of a recruiter. But I have little faith in him as a head coach.

Waiting for the homer fans to bash Bear for making an obvious pick. I can’t believe Kentucky is still a 10 point favorite.

Vandy is much worse than they were last year. UNLV is a bad MWC team and they lost to them. Vandy’s played one good game all year.

Also, don’t ignore the fact that the weather was crazy last year. I’ve been to games played in ice and snow, but UK-Vandy was the coldest I’d been due to the wind. It was whacky.

I was wondering, too, how can we be a 10 pt favorite over anyone w an offense that can’t score 3 TDS? What’s the o/u 33? I’d take a 10 pt win, grab a burger at Rotiers and get out of town like the dogs were chasing me. That would be a great outcome.

Since the Florida game, Kentucky has averaged 14.3 points per game. Giving an opponent a 10 point advantage….you gotta take that.

If Riley Neal plays well and has time to throw….Vandy probably wins. They will play well, so we will need to stop the run to win. The key is that front 4-5. Stoops will play zone to contain their passing game…if they are able to run it effectively…it will be a short game, but a long day.

Limited possessions. Low score. Turnovers may decide it.

Would not shock me if Vandy wins. We are totally 1 dimensional and they refuse to play smith.

This game is to see who is the worst of the worst in the SEC, Stoops will surely give Vandy a change to win this game by playing one dimensional football making it easy for the defensive coordinator for Vandy to stuff our run game.

Smith is def healthy enough to play and has been the past couple of games… Last game he played one play where he got up under center and performed a QB sneak… if he is healthy enough to do that he is healthy enough to play..

Dave, you’re an idiot. Arkansas is hands down the worst of the SEC right now.

Rage I realize he was healthy enough for a QB sneak, but is he healthy enough to not throw to interceptions and fumble?

I’ve never seen a coach try to keep an injured QB healthy by him running the ball and not throwing. Really?

It was a QB sneak, how far did he really run? 1 yard? Really???

Emphasis on A QB sneak, it’s not like he had more than one carry for over 1 yard. You do know what QB sneak is right???

Dave, you may have a point but do you have to continually complain and bash our sports teams on EVERY SINGLE KSR post for football and basketball? Go get a dang life.
