That Moment when you Thought Kentucky was Going to Win

Kentucky’s offense began the game with a solid 10 play, 75-yard touchdown drive that gave many confidence.  After a Kyle Bolin interception resulted in another touchdown, things were looking UK’s way.

Bolin had the Cards driving, and the anxiety began to settle in, until Josh Forrest had one of the greatest Pick 6’s since Bud Dupree’s game-winner against South Carolina.

He followed the interception with one hell of a celebration, by chucking the ball into the stands, all the way past the Recruiting Room.

I thought it was awesome, and still think it was pretty cool, but many believe the ensuing 15-yard penalty began the team’s downfall. It didn’t directly lead to a score, but it didn’t get much better after this.

    Or are we ?

The downfall was not the penalty. It is the same one every week….KY can NOT defend the read option. At least I don’t have to watch it anymore.

It was most definitely the turning point. The penalty put the defense in the hole, giving UL the ball at the 45 and they scored in less than 2 minutes after that. Stupid play by a senior leader!

Absolutely correct, Shepkat. That was the epitome of selfish and undisciplined play by a SENIOR leader. Pretty sure none of UK’s coaching staff has been working with players on that type of “passion” or “effort.”

I heard the Company Half & Half is sponsoring a Bowl just for UK …. They are calling it the “Half Ass” Bowl. This Bowl recognizes those schools that only play THE FIRST HALF of their games …. then sit on their ASS and let their opponent beat them in the 2nd half. UK is waiting to see who they will lose to in this game!!!!

The turning point of this game came in the closing minute of the first half when we had the ball AT THE 3 with 38 seconds left and the coaching staff just stood around with their thumbs up their ass’s while the time counted down.
When they finally decided to call a timeout, there was enough time for Barker to not see a wide open player in the end zone then kick a FG. Had the coach’s used Clock Management 101 for dummies they would have had a shot at 3 plays instead of taking a timeout into the locker room.
That was the point I shut down the TV and watched some good football on another channel.

Do you get 3 plays on 3rd and Goal? If so, this is fine advice!

No, but you can take a shot with 38 seconds on 3rd and goal and then kick it on 4th and goal if that doesn’t work. I agree with calling the guy out on his logic of 3 plays there on 3rd and goal but, I think he meant to say take a shot at that point.

You guys are complete morons. Can you do simple math?

The UK staff’s clock management at the end of the first half was FLAWLESS. Geez, posts like yours make me realize just how dim and clueless most fans really are. Unbelievable.

When the idiot threw the ball into the stands it was a huge momentum change. Can’t say it lost the game, when you can’t block, can’t catch or tackle, that’s the reason you lose ballgames.

I’ve had season tickets to UK since Commonwealth was opened. I lived in NC for 10 yrs and missed THREE home games and sometimes drove round trip 1000 miles on the same day. I went to Miami for the the BB game and left this morning at 5 AM, flew into Indy and drove to the game with hopes of a victory. Please don’t embarrass yourself by calling me a ‘Troll’ or not a ‘real; fan.

The ineptness with this coaching staff has been totally unacceptable. We have been mired in mediocrity for decades and will continue to be there until this university becomes committed to football. Memphis for gosh sake, Stanford, Northwestern (really?), Texas A&M, MS, MS St, TN, Duke, NC, VA Tech, Iowa in the fricken middle of nowhere, and too many others to mention, are committed to football AND can get quality coaches who coach players up.

I am sick of the “oh a lot of these teams play in a weaker conference” line, or “but their basketball team isn’t as good as ours”. I call BS on that, they get players and coach players up! The ineptness of play calling, game management, the lack of making any adjustments, poor discipline, total lack of creativity, and having pathetic special teams, is all on this staff. We’re getting better athletes, but they are being cheated out of the opportunity for success. The SEC is NOT a training ground for head coaches and this hire should never have been made.

There are NO excuses that can be made. This staff does not deserve another year. I challenge anyone to give me an area outside of recruiting, where this program has improved in 3 years. It has not, and will not next year. We’re looking at maybe 5-7 next year, at best, with the schedule in front of us and this staff. Why wait another year to do the inevitable?

Your last paragraph is what I said at the start of the season while everyone was drinking the Kool-Aid before the season started and got vilified for it. Bowl or bust and he just busted. If LSU wants to get rid of Les Miles or Georgia wants to cut Mike Richt, I’d be the first to welcome to our program if they should accept it.

Now if only I could get my apology from the guy I bet 8 games with and I told him it wasn’t going to happen.
