Thaddeus Snodgrass is leaving the program

And now, for some unfortunate football news. Jen Smith of the Herald-Leader is reporting that redshirt freshman wide receiver Thaddeus Snodgrass has decided to leave the program.

Snodgrass hasn’t caught a pass this season and has battled minor injuries throughout his two years in Lexington. A UK official has confirmed the report. Snodgrass was one of the stars of the 2014 recruiting class, considered a four-star prospect by all the major services.

Best of luck to you, Thaddeus. We’ll always have that picture.

UPDATE: Snodgrass just posted this tweet to thank the BBN for their love and support:

No. It’s a combination of quality depth at WR and change in offensive strategy. Shannon Dawson is not an air raid guy like Brown was. The air raid allows 9-10 receivers to get a lot of time. Our current offense doesn’t play that many and runs the ball more. I wish they would quit calling it the air raid, it’s a good offense but it’s not air raid. Kid is good but wasn’t even listed in rotation anywhere. He wants to play so he is going to go somewhere else. Big programs battle this problem all of the time but UK has never had the depth of talent we currently have so it’s a new concept to us, part of growing pains. Best of luck to him and I hope it works out.

You are a clown, he obviously saw the writing on the wall, as our top 3 receivers are all sophomores.

As our team acquires and develops talent this will be a regular occurrence. Happens to the best programs in the nation.

That being said best of luck to Snodgrass, I have always thought he had amazing potential, I hope he fulfills it at another program.

…develop talent? Wait. What? Taking a 4-star recruit and developing him into a non-factor dropout. That’s not how good teams operate.

Good one, but even you know its because there is so much young talent at WR that he can’t crack the rotation. You are right that we can expect more of this….it happens everywhere at rebuilding programs when more and better talent keeps coming in.

Snodgrass should hang in there with all the receivers dropping passes.

Let’s see. We have Jabari and Tavin in the fold waiting and currently red shirting. Both these guys are big wideouts. I can see why he transferred in addition to Juice and Baker playing well. The next deflection I could see is TV Williams. He has not seen a lick of playing time.
