Tennessee ditching checkerboard pattern on uniforms

For decades, the checkerboard pattern has been synonymous with Tennessee football (even if Kentucky did it first). Not for long. According to a new report, the Vols are retiring the checkerboard stripe on their helmets and pants and replacing it with a single solid stripe:

Can Kentucky please do the same???

I’d rather drop that wildcat logo that looks like a stapler puller

Should replace it with the Prison Bars pattern.

The Vols have had the checkerboard in their end zones for decades. If anything, UK copied them– not vice versa.

Double 00… you should know or at least research your facts before posting a dumb comment. Speaking of dumb, I’m pretty sure a single 0 would be suffice when you insert the word double in front. Lastly, please remove Mr. Delk’s name you abomination of excuse for a sports fan

I 100% agree with Double 00. Quit using the whole “we had the checkerboard at Stoll Field blah blah blah” BS. I get it. We *technically* had it first. But we didn’t start using it in the last decade until AFTER it had exploded in Knoxville. So yeah, we did it first, but we eventually stopped and then waited until UT capitalized on it to bring it back. Which, in my opinion, made us look like a sad copycat.

Tennessee 1st used the checkerboard in 1964…UK 1st used the checkerboard end zones in 1930.

Get rid of that hideous new wildcat logo. The people at Nike got lazy with that one. Will never wear that one.

I’m with others here, I don’t care about the checkerboard, but cannot stand the Wildcat logo. It’s absolutely atrocious and I have not purchased any new Apparel with it on there….and will not.
