Every now and then some wrestling news will catch your eye and make you feel like a kid again. After watching the build up to this years SummerSlam I have to admit I’m tempted to order the WWE network if just for one month.
You’ve got legit badace and reigning mayor of suplex city, Brock Lesnar taking on a 50 year-old ‘undead’ man called The Undertaker in a rematch from last year’s Wrestlemania. ‘Nuff Said.
Along with matches like Kevin Owens Vs Cesaro which has been specifically booked to appease internet wrestling fans.
This card has fatal four-ways, triple threats, Ric Flair’s daughter, and much much more. It’s going to be awesome. If you’re going to watch one WWE event this year, forget Wrestlemania, SummerSlam is the way to go. Sometime over the past few years SummerSlam has shifted into WWE’s most fun and unpredictable event. This year looks to be no different. Check it out.
On to the Kentucky Wildcats
13 Days Until Football
After having the worst scrimmage/practice of the summer yesterday morning Coach Stoops made his team hit the field for a 2-a-day last night. By all accounts the second one was lit with every player tweeting how hype they were and calling it one of the best practices they’ve been a part of. Every year that Stoops has been here there has been a point in the season where he hasn’t been satisfied with the level of effort but never before have we seen the team respond like they did last night. The times truly are changing in Lexington and efforts like that are going to reap big rewards late in the year.
The football team will get some rest on practice free Sunday but the countdown is on to get ready for the Ragin’ Cajuns and the rest of the SEC.
NFL Cats In Preseason Action
Don’t expect birthday boy, Randall Cobb, to get too many snaps today as Green Bay takes on Pittsburg in the 1 o’clock game on Fox. Bud Dupree could be a different story after getting thrown out of practice earlier this week. Bud has struggled a bit since landing under the steel curtain, perhaps today is the day he has a breakout performance. Following that game you can check out Avery Williamson leading the Tennessee defense as they take on the Rams.
Football season is almost here!
Cats on Campus
With class starting this week the basketball Cats are finally getting fully assembled. Isaac Humphries moved to Lexington yesterday according to his twitter account and Jamal Murray should be close behind. Murray has been notoriously quiet throughout his entire existence from Canadian unknown, to Kentucky recruit, to FIBA decision and beyond so who knows when he will be arriving. I mean he could be all moved in already. All we know for sure it that he isn’t playing in FIBA and that there is a drop dead date Cal has referenced that he has to be on campus by. Class starts on the 26th and the last day to withdraw is on September 1st so I’d guess it’s going to be sometime before that. Time will tell.
BG East Survives 7-5
The kids from my neck of the woods in Bowling Green took care of business yesterday by surviving a late Oregon rally to win 7-5. Next up they will face the winner of Red Land (Pa.) or Northwood (S.C.) on Monday. Survive and advance boys!
The Final Week of No Sports!
This Sunday-Saturday run marks our final full week without college athletics in our lives. Next Sunday will officially begin the countdown to September 5th and I couldn’t be more excited! Go Cats!
