Mark Stoops was a happy man when he addressed the media after Kentucky’s 35-21 win over Missouri. Not only did Kentucky get their fourth SEC win, the most by the program since 2006, they are only one win (over a bad Austin Peay team) away from bowl eligibility; however, Stoops said he challenged his team to take their play to another level with four games left on the schedule.
“You know what I loved about [the win], I love our guys’ preparation. That’s what I just asked them right now, I said, ‘Is that it? Are you satisfied with this or are you gonna go take it to another level? And that’s what I love coaching these guys. They want to go to a bowl game. I want them to enjoy it, they should. The music’s on in there and they’re having fun and they should, but tonight, go home and watch somebody else sweat and relax and let’s get back to work on Monday and not be satisfied.”
Stoops echoed those thoughts on in his postgame remarks with Tom Leach.
“We’re not satisfied. That’s what I like about this team,” Stoops said. “These guys get it. They enjoy it. They enjoy practicing and being together. It’s fun.”
Suddenly, that Georgia game seems like A LOT of fun.
