For Mark Stoops, a win is a win. “That’s just how we drew it up,” he joked after the game.
It was a wild one from the get go. The Cats came out hot, and appeared to have played through first game jitters without a hitch. Then the second half happened and those jitters reared their ugly head.
He admitted there were some moments where the defense was difficult to watch, but that can wait until film sessions, “It was a great night,” Stoops said. “I’m not going to let the fact that it got a little sloppy in the 2nd half take away from that.”
Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, a win is a win, and a win over a team that has won four consecutive bowl games should not be taken for granted. Stoops’ squad will not, “We’re going to enjoy this tonight, and then we’re going to get back to work to become a good football team.”
Even though you might still be sweating it out, your head coach appreciates your support, “A special thanks to the fans. I asked them to come and they did.”
