Stoops stays quiet on UK’s QB situation ahead of Arkansas game

Mark Stoops stayed quiet about his team’s quarterback situation, when asked after Thursday’s practice. He politely told the media to quit asking about it, followed by, “The situation is it what is. It does me no good to sit here and continually talk about it. We’re going to play with the guys that we feel give us the best opportunity to win.”

It was Stoops’ last chance to open up about his quarterbacks before Saturday’s game against Arkansas. Now we all wait until kickoff to learn if Sawyer Smith will give it a try through multiple injuries or if Walker Wood will get his first shot or if Lynn Bowden will take over as QB1 for a wild ride on offense.

The smart money is on option C: Lynn Bowden getting most of the snaps. If you’re a Kentucky Sports Radio radio listener, you heard Scoop Lemond say as much yesterday.

Are you ready for this?

What is he supposed to say?

“We’re in dire straits due to a lack of talent in the QB room so we’re using our best WR”.

The box will be loaded against us for the remainder of the season.

Hot take: Our Offense explodes with Lynn and we are better. Only thing we need is 1 more receiver to step up and youd have a Terry like Offense again.

Ummm no. Lynn has zero experience reading pre and post snap college defenses. That’s a huge key to offensive success. No way he even get close to understanding this within two weeks.

Terry was in the same situation last year and we went 10-3…

There are other true freshmen qbs who are playing great without experience.

And all those guys you’ve mentioned have had a lot more time than two weeks to prepare.

No disrespect but the Terry offense was pretty anemic last year. We were right at the bottom of the conference offensively last season. Like someone posted above, Bennie and Josh ain’t walking through the door.

I bet sawyer comes back strong, maybe not this week, and ends up throwing pretty damn well for the rest of the season. We have to admit, when healthy, he threw a pretty ball. Iffy decision-making, but a good arm.

Can we have Bowden pass to himself?

That reminds me, did you hear about the cannibal who passed his brother in the forest?

If it were Smith, he’d say it’s Smith. Why wouldn’t he? reading BT the lines he’s saying Smith starts, hands off, Pray we don’t get behind the chains, Bowden comes in, runs a real series not just a wildcat, and we try like hell to get a lead by catching them early when they’re not sure of who can do what. then we milk the clock for 40 minutes and put Smith or Wood in for passing periodically on called plays. Praying this works bc it sure feels like pouring vodka in the gas tank hoping it gets u to the next exit.

This has disaster written all over it. Lynn Bowden is not a QB… I hope he has some Randall Cobb magic in him but I’m not sure Bowden is as good as Cobb.

He isn’t. But he’s better at playing Cobb than anyone else on the team.
