Mark Stoops is currently addressing reporters about his 2017 class, which he says is complete.
“This is our class, yes it is,” Stoops said, adding that knew of all his prospects’ final decisions last night. “I got a phone call I didn’t really enjoy about 10 p.m.”
This morning, Jedrick Wills signed with Alabama, ending speculation that he would flip to Kentucky at the last minute, and based on Stoops’ comments, it sounds as though four-star wide receiver Danny Davis will end up at Wisconsin. Regardless, Stoops said he’s not going to stop going after elite talent, even if people think they’re too good for his program.
“We’re not gonna win them all, but we’re gonna win our fair share,” Stoops said. “Anybody we recruit, it’s our job to make it difficult for them to say no.”
Make no mistake: Stoops is very, very happy with his class of 24, which he says is full of winners.
“I’d say it’s by far my best class period,” Stoops said. “The biggest thing is, it’s about their character, it’s about their leadership. You look at these guys and a bunch of these guys are captains on their football game, they’re very, very good students, they’re competitors, winners. You just look at the two quarterbacks we have in this class, if I’m talking about one, I’m talking about both of them. They’re unbelievable leaders, they’re winners, they’re competitors, and you can say that about the whole group.”
