Stoops expects a great crowd at Kroger Field Saturday night

Saturday night’s game vs. Mississippi State is absolutely huge, and at today’s press conference, Mark Stoops said he expects a rowdy crowd at Kroger Field to help the Cats pull off the upset.

“It’s a big opportunity vs. a ranked opponent at home. A lot of reasons why it’s a big game. Part of that is to win at home in a good environment like we’re going to have and that I expect this week.”

Kentucky fans have answered Stoops’ call for big games in recent years, with the Florida game last year and the Georgia game in 2016 coming to mind as examples of Kroger Field at its best. Stoops said he expects nothing less on Saturday.

“I just know to hope and expect to have a great crowd. I’m sure we will. Big Blue Nation has not disappointed us in these big opportunities. The team is excited about being here and being in this environment and working extremely hard this week to give ourselves an opportunity to win.”

As of this afternoon, UK officials say there are more than 44,000 tickets out for Saturday night’s game. You can see on Ticketmaster the areas that still need to be filled:

It will suck if we don’t have a great crowd……Top 15 opponent, national TV, undefeated, perfect kickoff time……BBN needs to show out Saturday.

I completely agree. If you don’t come out on Saturday night, with all that is on the line (ranking, Bowl implications, SEC standings, potential to be playing GA for a shot at the East), are you even a fan? I know parking stinks, and tickets aren’t cheap, but for years, we’ve talked about how we want to be here, and have this kind of opportunity, now we need to keep up our end of the bargain. And I know that there will be those that say we’ve been here before and been let down, but if you can’t tell that this team’s attitude, ability, and potential is different, then you haven’t been paying much attention. So eat Ramen noodles this week, park at KSBar and take the shuttle, and get your blue or white on (bring both if you are looking for a ticket in the parking lot), and help cheer on the CATS!

He is correct. 3-0 and the win at Florida is what sells tickets. You don’t need a multimillion dollar firm to do it for you of you have a decent team on the field. A win Saturday will be huge and a dismantling of SC the following week will have #BBN fully vested. I’m just terrified that Stoops is going to cost us one of our next two…

When stoops got here he needed to change the culture. It looks like he has done that for the players but before he can do the same for the fan base we need to finally get one of this huge wins at home.

Look, this team has done something it hasn’t done in 31 YEARS! They beat Florida, but people still aren’t satisfied. Coach Stoops is trying to change the mindset and culture around UK the football program. The coaches and players are doing their part. Now, it’s time we as fans start doing ours! I think about what Coach Schlarman and Josh Paschal are going through right now. They could’ve easily just thrown in the towel with everything they have going on, but they show up every single day and put the work in to move this program in the right direction. Let’s show them and the players that “We got your back!”
