Ryan Flannigan is good to go this week, Mark Stoops confirmed today in his Monday press conference. Flannigan was dressed and cleared to play in the Florida game, but the staff kept him sidelined due to a lack of reps leading up to the game.

“He was cleared late in the week,” Stoops told reporters. “He hadn’t had a rep, hadn’t hit anybody live. We even took him out there Friday and put some pads on some people and let him hit it and it felt good; he just hadn’t had a lot of reps.”

“It’s very good to get him back this week. He’ll be full steam ahead. He’ll be in there getting ready to go this week.”

Huge news for the defense.

Now, can we get some “huge news” for the offense?

This is good news. Flannigan came on strong towards the end of last season.

After Mizzou’s offensive showing against UConn and the way our defense played against UF, I’m thinking shutout W. Anyone have a stat on how long it’s been since we got an in-conference shutout win?

The last shutout SEC win was in 1996 against Vanderbilt, UK won 25-0.

You could have Ole Miss players playing for Kentucky and they would still lose….

UL has all the SEC and Big 12 rejects that get kicked off the team for being arrested and they *still* can’t win any football games… so…

U of L is the only school in the nation to have a student-athlete selected in the first round of the 2015 NFL, MLB and NBA drafts. But no championships to back it up. 🙁

Depth at linebacker will make a huge difference. The defense has played well enough for us to win every game, adding Flannigan will make it much better.
On a side note, I was glad to see the coach acknowledge things need to be done better, and the need to get the other players in the game. He did say he “likes where we are now, but also said there are things we as coaches can do better, and we will be talking to the players to make sure there are things we expect them to do “. I am not sure if I m quoting this exactly, but he said if some of the older players do not step it up he has no problem putting younger players in where it makes sense.
I thought the presser was a little tense, and the media certainly turned up the heat a little.
My impression is Stoops was uncomfortable throughout, and could not wait to get out of there and get to practice to work on what is wrong.
    At least I hope so.

The coaches making comments like “I should have done better” is just stupid.

And yet, they’ve beaten Louisville more than they’ve beaten us. What does that say about THAT program?

I wonder if they miss being in the BigLeast or AAC yet…?
