Yesterday, Patrick Towles told Paul Finebaum that he truly believes the team is capable of making it to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.
“I think we can get to Atlanta, and I can say that with as much confidence as I’ve got,” Patrick said (full video here). “We’ve got the pieces in place, we’ve got the coaches, and we’ve got the guys. I’m confident in my receivers and my offensive line and my defense. We’ve got leaders all around. I have no doubt in my mind, we have the talent to get to Atlanta.”
Both Mark Stoops and Shannon Dawson were asked about those comments today after practice, and while both praised Patrick for his confidence, they said the team did not back his comments up this afternoon.
“I loved it. I like the confidence and our kids do believe that. I wish they would have went out today and proved it a little bit more to me,” Dawson said.
Patrick echoed those comments to reporters today. “I would say it again,” he said, a heartening sentiment after a rough day. “Tell me I’m crazy.”
You is talking loco, but I like it.
