Stoops addresses Lynn Bowden’s playing time tweets

By now, you’ve probably heard about Lynn Bowden’s tweets complaining about his lack of playing time. After playing only two snaps in Saturday’s game, Bowden complained on Twitter that the UK coaching staff “played him.” That tweet was eventually taken down, but Bowden continued to send out cryptic tweets on Sunday. Mark Stoops was asked about the tweets first thing in today’s press conference, and he said he has “no issues” with the talented freshman.

“No issue. We’ll continue to manage our players. That’s what they pay me to do and we’ll be fine. Lynn’s a good kid, works hard. It’s not uncommon in general. I’ve been in a lot of places with some very, very, very talented young men and the competitive nature comes out in kids sometimes and we’ll be fine. That’s one thing about our football team now and where we’re at; we can manage things like that very easily.”

Bowden’s clearly a talented kid (word is he didn’t drop a pass in fall camp) and I have a feeling he’s already heard plenty from the coaching staff about airing his grievances on Twitter. Considering he’s a true freshman that got to campus later than everyone else, it definitely wasn’t a good look.

Patience, young grasshopper.

Maybe the POTUS and college athletes should stay off twitter.

Verdad. Maybe everybody should? Self control is a lost art and informal, written communication is the easiest to misconstrue.

He sounds like someone who knows their worth. Judging by coaches comments during camp (never dropped a pass) maybe the coaches are missing out. Not a huge deal bc they are putting him in for plays just didnt get a ball thrown his way. I guarantee he gets 1 or 2 during EKU and then Gran opens something ridiculous against SCAR and he has his official coming out party.

On another note, anyone else cant stand Jake Bentleys face?!?!? Looks like Matt Damon. I hope Pascal hits him hard actually I dont care who hits him I want him feeling the heat all game when we roll through town.

Put the SCAR game away early and keep the crowd out of it.
