Stephen Johnson Can Throw the Deep Ball

During fall camp it was stated that Stephen Johnson had trouble throwing the deep ball. Quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw said Johnson continuously threw the ball over the wide receivers’ heads.
“His arm sometimes is not even with his body,” Hinshaw told reporters in August. “He needs to relax and complete those balls. He can run and do all of those things, but there are situations where he’s got to be able to throw and complete it.”
“We were just chucking the ball as far as we can throw it, and that’s not how you throw a deep ball,” quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw said of both Johnson and Barker.
If you ask Jeff Badet, Johnson’s deep ball was no problem at all.
“Like I said he never had problems throwing me a deep ball,” Badet said. “I’m the type guy, like, if you throw it deep and I don’t get it it’s my fault, it’s not the quarterbacks fault. That’s something I really train on. My speed is to go get anything.”
Johnson’s 54-yard pass to Badet looked textbook.
