It’s been a rocky road, but Kentucky is sitting pretty at 4-1, tied for 2nd in the SEC East. Here are some individual statistics that confirm the Cats are heading in the right direction.
— UK is 100% in the Red Zone, the only SEC team to remain perfect through five games and one of only 10 in the nation *knock on wood*.
— Rushing yards per attempt: Boom Williams is 3rd behind Leonard Fournette and Nick Chubb with 7.3 per attempt.
— Boom’s 75-yard touchdown ties Fournette for the second longest rush of the year, only behind Nick Chubb’s 83-yarder against Alabama last week.
— Kentucky is 29th in the nation on 3rd down defense, holding opponents to convert only 31% of the time.
— Patrick Towles isn’t as inaccurate as you think. His 61.5% completion percentage is right in the middle of the SEC at #7. In almost every category, touchdowns, yards etc., he sits at about 7th. Not great, but not bad at all.
— Dorian Baker’s 3 receiving touchdowns are only two behind the league’s leader, Mizzou’s Quincy Adeboyejo.
— Juice and Dorian are #10 and#11 in receiving yards. It tells me that Pat is spreading the ball around well, while having two consistent go-to targets.
— Cory Johnson’s 30 tackles in two games remain incomprehensible.
— Josh Forrest is third in the SEC with 49 tackles.
— JD Harmon’s 2 interceptions put him one back from the league leaders.
