Sihiem King to sit the rest of the year

Mark Stoops dropped some news in his postgame press conference when he announced running back Sihiem King will redshirt this season.

King, a senior, played in every game his first three seasons in Lexington. Last year he carried the ball 79 times for 364 yards and two scores, and was in the running to be the No. 2 man behind Benny Snell this season. But with the solid play of A.J. Rose in the backup role, King made the tough decision to sit this year out so he’ll have another chance for touches in 2019. Where that will be, though, no one knows. When asked about the possibility of a transfer, Stoops said they will address that at another time.

Unfortunately for him, he is the odd man out. And it doesn’t really look like will change next year. Sit out and get another year of free college education seems like a solid plan.

Hope he stays king is pretty good . He’d be an asset next season , everyone is just one play away from moving up in rotation. Rb is a brutal position

Have loved his versatility since he’s been here. Hope he stays here. Wish the best for him wherever he goes!

He’s gone unless he plans to earn a grad degree at UK. Classic case of a program getting better and current roster players getting recruited over. Rose, Rodriguez, and Smoke will get the touches next year.

I had such high hopes for King when he got here. Benny just blew the doors off when he got in games. Hope he finds the perfect fit for himself. Cats have such a bright future at RB.

I hoped he would have emerged as Boom v2 and be a good change up to Snell. I know Snell is getting yards and running down the clock, but we have got to get touches to everyone else as well.
