Report: Joker’s Got a Brand New Job at Cincinnati

After spending a season controlling the quality at Ohio State, former Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips  is taking his talents down I-71 south to coach wide receivers at the University of Cincinnati.  First reported by Football Scoop, Phillips will join former Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell in the Queen City.

It will be Phillips’ fourth job since he was fired at Kentucky.  He coached Florida’s receivers for a year before he was forced to resign for recruiting violations in 2014.  He spent the 2015 season with the Cleveland Browns until head coach Mike Pettine was fired.

Now in Stoops’ backyard, he’ll likely battle Vince Marrow for a few recruits.  I’ll take Vince over the Photoshop extraordinaire.

Joker recruited in 2004 Trevard Lindley , Myron Pryor , Wes Woodyard, Garry Williams, Rafael Little and all of them moved on to play in the NFL . Also , let’s mention Marcus McClinton, Micah Jones, and Lonnell Dewalt who were really good Players as well .
In 2005, he recruited Braxton Kelley, Alfonso Smith , Tim Masthay and they also all played in the NFL . In addition Ventrell Jenkins , Christian Johnson , and Curtis Pulley were good players too.
2006 he recruited Stevie Johnson , Corey Peters , Micah Johnson who also played in the NFL .
Calvin Harrison , Justin Jeffries also good UK players huh ?
So I think Joker will hold his own against Vince Morrow.

And since then, Joker has sucked. He’s not holding anything against Marrow except maybe his sandwich.

You also have to remember that they developed those players under Brooks’ staff, which Joker let go when he became HC in order to make it more his program. Joker did some good things and was a good recruiter and OC, but the staff around him and the veteran leadership helped tremendously.
