Randall Cobb helps a kid get back on the right path (and gives his family a car)

Visit for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

It’s been a big week for Randall Cobb, who followed up his Broadway debut in “Rock of Ages” with an appearance on the Today Show this morning.  Cobb stopped by to tell viewers about his friendship with Tyson Wheelock, a 13-year-old boy who had fallen in with the wrong crowd.

Like Randall, Tyson was threatened by bullies in his school who urged him to pick fights with other kids.  Through Characters Unite, Cobb has mentored Wheelock to help him get back on the right path, and on behalf of the organization and GMC, presented Tyson and his mother with a new car.

Keep making us proud, Randall.

We as Ky fans should be proud of what our guys do off the field more so then what they do on the field

I hope Matt touches on this for the radio show. This needs more attention. It’s nice to see players doing the right thing (not just UK, but sports figures in general). Too many negative stories out there and this is a good example of people making a difference. Just awesome………
    Way to go Cobb!!

Wow is all I can say. As a life long UK and Packers fan, I have truly been blessed to have a player like Randall Cobb to root for. And when he shows his character like this outside of who he is professionally, you can’t help but be excited as a true fan of this guy. Keep making us proud Golden Eyes. Classy to the end.

To me there is no better person on the field or off than Cobb. He showed passion and heart and fought for everything on the field and he continues to be humble and treat people with compassion and respect off the field. As fans we need some perspective. Its a lot more than just wins. This is one of the many reasons I am true blue. Go CATS!

Kids can be so cruel sometimes. As a kid, im sure i had my moments as well. I sometimes wish i could go back and smack myself.

This is pretty cool its good to see our guys giving back.

If Randall Cobb isn’t your favorite former football Wildcat, then he should be! This guy has it all – ability, determination, character and class. I love following his career both on and off the field.

Randall Cobb is the best. He obviously has greatness from within, but I think his parents and other role models growing up should get a share of credit, as well. They did one hell of a job.

What a clip. Other than looking at that hag Kathie Lee. I agree – this needs more attention. Puts our whining about basketball and football in perspective.

Man, I sound like a wuss.
