Phillip Rivers says Stevie Johnson is “off to a heck of a start” in San Diego

Stevie Johnson is now a San Diego Charger, and according to quarterback Phillip Rivers, he’s fitting in just fine at camp.

“Stevie is off to a heck of a start,” Rivers told reporters yesterday. “If there is one guy I would say I am most excited about I would probably single him out. The plays he’s made and we’ve already had a handful of trust-building plays and confidence-building plays between the two of us. It gets me excited that he can become a huge part of our success this year.”

Stevie signed a three-year deal with the Chargers in March, and will take over the slot position from Eddie Royal, who is now with the Bears. After a rough year with San Francisco, he’s ready to rebound, and told reporters he already considers Rivers a brother:

“Phil is great, man,” Johnson said. “We’ve linked together as brothers. We’re on a good path right now.”

Hopefully that chemistry will carry over into this season. Until then, it might be smart to pick up Stevie in your Fantasy Football Draft.

Kentucky may not have a huge number of guys in the league compared to some schools, but the ones we have are making an impressive impact over the last several years!
